Nature-based experiences

The Falstad Centre is located in the pleasant village of Ekne in Levanger. The place is surrounded by a beautiful cultural landscape and excellent hiking terrain. There are several great local hiking trails, a bird tower and a climbing field with close to 100 routes. The area also offers opportunities for sea and inland fishing, as well as a nice marina with rental opportunities.

Hiking at Ekne

A hiking trail along the river Byaelva connects the Falstad Centre and the Falstad forest. The gravel surface and twenty bridges makes it well suited for families with children.

You may also try out numerous other paths for walking an biking in the nearby area. Check out the Norwegian Mountain Bike Map for recommended routes and levels of difficulty.

Lookout tower at Våttåberget

On the hill Våttåberget between Ronglan and Ekne there is a twelve meter high lookout tower with a fantastic view. The place is a popular destination for hikers.

The tower is built on a voluntary basis, through collaboration between a number of local associations and companies.

Bird watching tower

A bird watching tower has been set up close to the shop at Ekne. From here, you have a good view to most of the local bird sanctuary. The wide shoreline and groundwater area borders cultivated land and gray alder forest. The place attracts large numbers of geese, ducks and waders during the migration periods. The autumn migration is the most extensive. (Photo: Magne Husby)

Climbing area

The climbing field at Ekne is located in Purvika, about 8 km from Falstadsenteret. The field offers well over 100 routes for both beginners and more experienced sports climbers.
